Kurnatu had emigrated to Sydney and Queensland, Australia as a sugarcane worker for more than 5 years. When he came back to Malta he started working at 'Ta' Cenc' until he found a full-time government job and kept farming as a part-time job. Apart from the time he spent in Australia, he used to live in Victoria and Kercem, Gozo. He had a daughter and at the time of the interview he was a pensioner.
