Theme: The Craft of Farming in the Past and How it Changed. Joseph Vella, also known as ' Tal-Kananku' was born on the 14th of May 1930 in Mellieha. He had 3 siblings. His father, Guzeppi, was a farmer and his mother, Rosanna, was a grocer. Vella was a farmer and spent a short time cutting stone. At the time of the interview he was retired but was still working in the fields. In the 1980s and 90s he had travelled to Australia (4 months), Canada (3 months) and Italy (2 weeks). Other than those times, he had always lived in Mellieha. Joseph had 8 children, 2 had already passed away. He liked swimming and hunting.
