Scope and content
Department: Military. Following an outbreak of Typhoid Fever at St. Francis Barracks a request was made to remove 3 sewer ventilators close to Barrack room air ventilators. As a temporary measure they were sealed up but appeared desirable that they should be removed. A suggestion was made to have only one shaft to ventilate the 3 sewers. The Sanitary Engineer at the Public Health Dept. gave his opinion too warning against accumulation of sewer gases which could be very dangerous. Two site plans are also attached.
