Department: Minute. Department: Minute. A list of 8 persons named as visitors of the Corradino Prison in addition to the visitors named in Ordinance No. 1 of 1894 for the year 1900. A copy of the Malta Government Gazette of the 13th June 1899 and the General Regulations for the Corradino Prison are also attached.
Up to the end of 1902, the registry number of files began and ended with the term of office of each Governor. These volumes pertain to when Lord Gerald Strickland was the Chief Secretary to Government.
Department: Legal. Chief Justice was acknowledging the receipt of an authenticated copy of Ordinance No. 1 of 1990 for enrolment in H.M. Court of Appeal.
Department: Consular. Consul for Palermo was sending the Health Statistics for Palermo and district for month ending 31st December.
Department: Judicial. Acting Registrar is submitting a Recapitulation Report with regards to decided and pending cases in the Courts of Appeal, in the Criminal Court, the Commercial Court, the Civil Court First Hall, together with the duration of Sittings.
Department: Naval. Admiral Supt. is proposing to fix the Semaphore and cabin around same at the existing Civil Govt. Station at Giordan in Gozo with a view to preparing this place for naval purposes as previously approved. So as not to interfere with the signalling arrangements it was desired to at once erect the semaphore post and cabin on the roof of the existing signalmen's quarters so that it could be completed ready for immediate use on transfer.
Department: Minute. Crown Advocate is submitting for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in Confidence, his reasons why the posts of Advocate for the Poor and that of Assistant Crown Advocate were not to be amalgamated.
Department: Minute. It is being questioned whether the allowance of £40 was to be paid monthly or in a lump sum and the reply was that it should be paid like all similar allowances, that is quarterly.
Department: Military. Following an outbreak of Typhoid Fever at St. Francis Barracks a request was made to remove 3 sewer ventilators close to Barrack room air ventilators. As a temporary measure they were sealed up but appeared desirable that they should be removed. A suggestion was made to have only one shaft to ventilate the 3 sewers. The Sanitary Engineer at the Public Health Dept. gave his opinion too warning against accumulation of sewer gases which could be very dangerous. Two site plans are also attached.
Department: Military. Col. on the Staff of C.R.E. is asking if the Civil Govt. for what period the emptying of cesspits by Govt. Traction Engine was suspended and that during this suspension it would be necessary to resort to the objectionable practice of emptying cesspit at 7A, Strada Tigné, Sliema by hand and he also asked when the main drainage system would reach Strada Tignè and the houses therein be connected.
