Scope and content

In the first part of the second interview Michael started by talking about refugees in Rabat and how a number of families had chosen to stay in Rabat after hostilities. He then started describing Italian bombings, the dog fights, and the different aircraft: Gladiators, Hurricanes, and Spitfires. During the war Michael had the Malta Volunteer Defence Force (M.V.D.F.) - also known as the Malta Home Guard - and the Malta Auxiliary Corps (M.A.C.) until he later found employment as a clerk within the Ministry of Agriculture. He described how food used to be distributed due to the restrictions of the time. He recalled enemy pilots being made prisoners of war and he also spoke of foreign soldiers from Mauritius and Scotland who he had befriended.
