Scope and content
Dates covered: 1920s-1980s. In the third interview Michael started by discussing the lack of food, the food rations given out by the Victory Kitchens and the tickets people were given in order to get their share. The black market abounded and racketeers got rich as buyers were made to pay with their silver rather than money. He discussed diseases, medicine and hospitals, hardship and lack of clothing. It was then that the Pedestal convoy had sailed into harbour in August 1942 and alleviated some of the hardship.
