Department: Charitable. Comptroller C.I. is reporting that Alfredo Giorgio employed as Carpenter at the Lunatic Asylum had committed irregularities in money transactions when following the sudden death at Notabile of Mr. Zammit the Storekeeper in the same Institution he had been given a day's leave without pay to assist Mrs. Zammit who at the time had no one to assist her. She entrusted him with the payment of bills in connection with the funeral etc. and in so doing he began by extorting 9s. for his day's work, when he was not entitled more that 2s.4; he paid a bill to the wrong person causing Mrs. Zammit to pay twice for the same service and he appropriated for himself 5s in paying the bill for the coffin. In view of these irregularities where honesty is an indispensable quality in an employed person he was requesting for his dismissal from work, which request was acceeded to.
