Scope and content

Department: Military. In accordance with a scheme of defence authorised in 1895 the room known as the Look-out Room on the Palace Tower was proposed as the Telephone Room which since that time had been used for this purpose from time to time particularly during manoeuvres by favour of the present tenants (LLoyds). It was now being requested that the Civil Govt. be approached with a view to enabling the Military Authorities to take it over permanently at an early date.
