Lauri was born on the 18th March 1971. He is one of Malta’s most gifted and accomplished musicians. He started playing the violin at the age of four, later studying with Mario Bisazza. In 1988 he was awarded the Associated Board’s Scholarship to further his studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music with distinguished soloists. Furthermore he achieved international recognition by winning various overseas prizes. Lauri has performed extensively and on a number of occasions he has been selected to perform as a soloist in the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth II and Presidents of various countries. His two premiere performances of the Walton Violin Concerto with Czech State Philharmonic Orchestra of Brno further enhanced his growing international reputation. In 1998 and 2000 Carmine was chosen as a representative of the London Symphony Orchestra (of which he is a member) to join the World Orchestra for peace under Valery Gergiev in concerts in Baden-Baden and London. Lauri has two compact disc recordings to his credits. He has led various orchestras in the U.K. all under distinguished conductors. Carmine has also featured as a soloist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet Orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in Bach’s Double Violin Concerto. Recently he has been appointed Assistant Concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra. Lauri plays a violin made by Gregorio Antoniazzi dating from 1768.
He is married Susanna Menta and they have a daughter.
