Scope and content

The black and white image depicts a portrait of Our Lady of Damascus in Maltese known as Damaxxena, which was brought to Malta by the Knights when expelled from Rhodes in 1530. Today this icon is found at the Greek Church in Valletta. It is a memento of the coronation celebration of this famous icon. Overleaf one finds a picture of the Ecce Homo, the face of Christ which was imprinted on the cloth with which Veronica wiped His face. Underneath this picture there is a quote from the Miserere, Holy, strong and immortal God hae mercy on us. Verbum Dei caro factum est means The Word of God made flesh. Lastly, there is the axiom "Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands."
