Scope and content
Dates covered: 1920s-1945. Loulou Mifsud Bonnici started by recounting how her Smyrna-born mother had been evacuated to Malta during the final months of the Greco-Turkish War. She then explained how her family relocated to Lija from Sliema due to the air raids until finally choosing to settle in a cave at Dingli Cliffs. She described the rural setting, the relationships with the local farmers, the living conditions and how her family used to make do with the food and fruit they had gathered from the surrounding fields.
