The sepia-coloured picture shows the Pope surrounded by various Cardinals opening the Holy Door (Porta Santa) which is opened every 25 years in the Jubilee Year. Above this, there is depicted in a cloud Jesus Christ giving the Keys to St Peter. The picture is set in a guilded border. This is a memento of the giving of the tonsure (the first step towards priesthood) and the installation of the first minor orders to Fr Carmelus Busuttil as lector and porter. At the top one finds - "I am your portion and your inheritance" - reflecting a quote from the Book of Numbers 18: 20.
The sepia-coloured picture shows the Pope surrounded by various Cardinals opening the Holy Door (Porta Santa) which is opened every 25 years in the Jubilee Year. Above this, there is depicted in a cloud Jesus Christ giving the Keys to St Peter. The picture is set in a border, having two angels at the top on the left and right hand corners. On the side, one finds olive branches and at the bottom, on the left, there is a painting of the Basilica of St Peters, in the middle the insigna of Pope Pius XI and on the right the Lateran basilica with the Jubilee Year printed underneath – MCMXXV – 1925. The outside border is guilded.
On the first page there is depicted Pope Pius XII opening the Holy Door or 'Porta Sancta' which is only open during a Holy Year (Jubilee), which occurs every 25 years . On the first day of a holy year, the Pope strikes the brick wall with a silver hammer and opens it to the pilgrims. The message imparted by the Holy Door is that God's mercy reaches out to mankind's frailty. On the next three pages, one finds a small write-up about the Jubilee Year in Italian, English and French, one language for each page. In the middle of the image, there is a blank page, with 2 small holes and a border. Most probably, a picture of Fr marjanu Vella OFM was affixed here, as his rubber stamp is found at the bottom of the same page. On the back middle page, there is written in pencil the number 4.
