The Times of Malta is an English-language daily newspaper in Malta. Founded in 1935, by Lord and Lady Strickland and Lord Strickland's daughter Mabel, it is the oldest daily newspaper still in circulation in Malta. It has the widest circulation and is seen as the daily newspaper of record of the Maltese press. The newspaper is published by Allied Newspapers Limited, which is owned by the Strickland Foundation, a charitable trust established by Mabel Strickland in 1979 to control the majority of the company.

Scope and content
This photographic collection was deposited at the National Archives of Malta through an agreement signed on the 19th August 2022 by and between the National Archives of Malta and Allied Newspapers Limited of Times of Malta. All the photographic material is being digitised and a catalogue is being created. The aim is to preserve this collection for future generations and to make it accessible.
Appraisal, destruction and scheduling
This photographic collection went through a selection process during cataloguing since for each File level (representing a particular event) there were multiple duplicates. As a result, this collection may seem to have missing numbers (item numbers may jump from 001 to 005). The missing numbers represent the uncatalogued, duplicated photographs.
Accruals
This collection is a work in progress. Photographic material is continuously being digitised, catalogued and made available to the public.
System of arrangement
The Times of Malta Photographic Archive was given a Private Deposit Number: PDE_0037. The collection is being re-boxed in archival quality boxes and each box is given a number (Subfond). Each envelope in the boxes is also being given a new number (File). All the material which is being digitised is also given a number (Item).
