Storia archivistica
Born in Sliema in 1951, Marc grew up in a musical family. Both his mother and eldest sister played classical piano. His father had a strong tenor voice and regularly sang a whole Gregorian Mass at St Gregory church, Sliema, where Marc took his first initiative towards singing in public.
Marc’s repertoire of songs was already quite vast at a very early age thanks to Rediffusion and BBC Radio. He still recalls the early days of his musical career, especially that old Wurlitzer that played day and night at a local bar where teenagers met.
In the mid-sixties, whilst still at school, Marc made his first live performance with two local bands, ‘Stonehenge Union’ and ‘The Boys’. He moved to London in 1970 and, by the end of 1971, he had teamed up with Swiss Band ‘TEA’. During the seventies ‘TEA’ released three albums sprouts, the ship, and tax exile.
Returning to London in 1976, Storace formed the band ‘Eazy Money’. They were very active in London and their song telephone man landed on a compilation called Metal for Mutha’s Volume 2.
‘Krokus’ entered Marc’s life when he was invited by the Swiss band for a weekend jam. His raw, high- powered, three-octave voice, and charismatic stage presence propelled ‘Krokus’ onto the international frontline. During a period of 8 years, ‘Krokus’ released eight albums. A few of these climbed the US Billboard Charts making Gold and Platinum.
In 1989, Storace wrote the songs for his first solo- project, the blue room. He teamed up with ‘China’ in
1993 and a live radio broadcast of one of their concerts was released by Phonag Records in 2000.
‘Acoustical Mountain’ was formed by Marc and China’s two guitar players. This trio set out to win hearts by bringing classics and rock’n’roll to Swiss mountain resorts.
With Marc as singer, ‘Amen’ released their first album in 1994, ‘Krokus’ released the Album to rock or not to be in 1995 and ‘Amen’ their second album, Aguilai; in 1996. The definitive collection, Marc Storace and ‘China’s’ album alive and the ultimate tribute to hon Scott and AC/DC, were all released in 2000.
In 2001 Koch Records released the song one world, a hymn where Rock meets Classic, sung by Marc and opera singer Raphael Haslinger. The year 2003 saw ‘Krokus’ release the album rock the block, and Marc join American Cult Heavy Rockers ‘Warrior’ in Los Angeles to sing on their album The wars of gods and men.
In 2004, Marc joined ‘Biss’ and sang on their album face-ofi and in April 2005 Marc, Steve Lee of Gotthard, and the Swiss female singer Gigi Moto recorded a Queen medley tailored for Swiss National Television SFdrs1.
On 19 August 2005, at the Rock Meets Classic concert in Lucerne, under the direction of ‘The Magical’ John Axelrod, Marc sang with the Great Luzern Symphony Orchestra, which was celebrating 200 years since its foundation.
Marc occasionally returns to Malta to be with his family and friends and to perform at local venues.
