Scope and content
Loulou Mifsud Bonnici's family had their houses in Sliema destroyed due to enemy activity during the war. They had relocated to Lija and finally sought shelter in a cave somewhere along Dingli Cliffs. Local farmers had rented out a section of the cliff face to the Pizzuto family; a room which housed the air raid shelter was dug out for more space and a purpose-built wooden kitchen was constructed later on. The Pizzutos had befriended the villagers at the nearby village and the farmers who tended to their fields at and below Dingli Cliffs. Apart from the Pizzuto family, there were others which had sought shelter along the same cliffs: the Engerer family from Sliema, the Attard Montalto family and the Bugeja Meli family.
