In 2001 certain government departments related to industrial relations and trade were dissolved as their functions were overtaken by the newly formed Commerce Department (2000- ). Hence, some of the records of these departments were inherited by the Commerce Department. Since the creators of these records were not the Commerce Department per se, we created this Subfonds entitled 'Legacy Records' under the Fonds of the Commerce Department. One category of files which was transferred from the Commerce Department to NAM were the files which used to belong to the Department of Trade, hence a Sub Subfond (01) was created for these records.
