Scope and content
The pale-coloured image depicts the Sacred Heart of Mary on a bed of pink roses. At the bottom, there is a medallion, on the front depicting the Immaculate Conception and at the back the symbols of the Sacred Heart of Mary and Jesus Christ. It is a memento of the coronation of the titular painting of Immaculate Conception at the parish of Cospicua. This celebration was not held here as during the War, Cospicua was heavily bombarded and to safeguard the painting, it was transported to the parish of St Helen in Birkirkara. This memento is at the same time a prayer for peace over the maltese Islands. Overleaf, at the top, there is written in pencil the name of 'Iris' and at the bottom, right hand corner, the year '1941.'
