How to request a document from the National Archives of Malta:



  1. First take note of the document's reference code and title.

  2. To request the document, kindly contact the National Archives of Malta by telephone (+356 2602 3800) or email (customercare.archives@gov.mt) and inform staff with the reference code and title.

  3. In order to view it, you will be notified of two options:

  • Book an appointment at our reading rooms.

  • Request digital copies and pay online.

NOTE regarding access:

  • Offsite storage: Some documents are stored at offsite repositories so please allow some time for them to be available at the Central Office. Staff will be updating you accordingly.

  • Temporarily unavailable documents: The requested document might require conservation treatment. Staff will notify you once it is available for access.
