Scope and content
The image is a reproduction of the famous painting of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus by the Italian painter by the Italian artist Roberto Ferruzzi (+1934) in 1897. Although Ferruzzi called the painting “Madonnina,” it is better known today as “Madonna of the Streets.” It is a memento commemorating the solemn blessing and consecration of the Chapel at the Girl's School of St Elmo in Valletta to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This was celebrated by Bishop Emanuel Galea.
