Johannes Antonius Perier from Valletta was in the service of Cav. Fra Ottavio Scarampi, commander of the galley San Giacomo. After firing the previous maestro di casa, Antonius Bianchi, they discovered that a silver fork was missing from the dinner set and Scarampi made him pay for it. Later, Perier was approached by one of the workers of the Console dell'Argentieri, called Saverius who disclosed that he had the fork in his possession. It was later disclosed that it was brought to them by a young boy in service on the same galley.
