The colourful image depicts Jesus Christ guarding the four major Basilicas in Rome: St Peter's, St John Lateran,St Paul outside the Walls and Santa Maria Maggiore. Beneath these, there is depicted Pope Pius XIIgiving his blessing and his coat of arms on his right hand side. At the back, at the top, there are printed the abbreviations J.M.J.E. standing for Jesus, Mary, Joseph and (the Prophet) Elijah, father of all Carmelites. Following this, there is stated that the image is a remembrance of the ordination to the priesthood of the Carmelite Rev. Fr Francis M. Grech O.Carm. at the Mdina Cathedral and his First Solemn Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Valletta.
