Extent and medium

The sepia-coloured image with a guilded edging depicts the Sacred Heart of jesus over a tabernacle, with the symbols of His Passion on an altar. It is a memento of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ordination to the contemplative life of the Benedictine Sr M. Scolastica Cutajar. The religious Profession was held at the Monastery of St Scholastica in Vittoriosa while for her anniversary, Sr Cutajar was stationed at the Monastery of St Peter's in Mdina, belonging to the Benedictine Sisters as well. Overleaf, one finds the motto of St Benedict of Nursia, the Father of all Contemplatives - Ora et Labora - Pray and Work. In fact, St Scholastica was the twin sister of St Benedict. The memento on the back is handwritten in black ink.
