Sir Maurice Henry Dorman GCMG GCVO DL (7 August 1912 – 26 October 1993) was the representative of the Crown in the then-Commonwealth Realms of Tanganyika, Trinidad and Tobago, Sierra Leone, and Malta.

Dorman was born in 1912 and was the eldest son of John Ehrenfried Dorman and Madeleine Louise Bostock. Both his parents came from big industrial families in the town of Stafford. His mother was a magistrate and one of the first female dentists.

Dorman was educated at Sedbergh School and Magdalene College, Cambridge. He served in Sierra Leone from 1956 until 1962, for which he was knighted in 1957. From 27 April 1961 (Sierra Leone's independence day) to 27 April 1962, Dorman was the Governor-General of Sierra Leone. From 1962 until 1964, he was the Colonial Governor of Malta and then became Governor-General of Malta from September 1964 until July 1971, when he was replaced by Sir Anthony Mamo. In 1971–1972, he was a deputy chairman of the Pearce Commission.

He was a Deputy Lieutenant for Wiltshire and a Knight Grand Cross of the Maltese Order of Merit. In his retirement, he was also active within the Order of St John, being appointed in 1972 as Almoner and Chief Commander of the St John Ambulance. He continued his work in public health as a member of the Swindon Hospital Management Committee and other positions. He served as a member of the board of governors of Monkton Combe School from 1969 to 1992.

Dr Edward Fenech Adami was elected President of the Republic on 4th April 2004.

Dr Fenech Adami was born in 1934, the son of a customs officer. He was educated at the Jesuits College and the University of Malta, where he first studied economics and the classics and later law. He was called to the bar in 1959.

Dr Fenech Adami joined the Christian Democratic Nationalist Party (PN) in the early 1960s, establishing a reputation as a reserved but determined and capable constituency official. He entered parliament in 1969 and in 1977, less than ten years later, after having served in a number of senior party posts, including president of the Administrative and General Councils, he was elected party leader, succeeding Dr Giorgio Borg-Olivier.

Mao Zedong (1893 – 1976), also known as Chairman Mao, was a Chinese politician, revolutionary, and political theorist who founded the People's Republic of China (PRC) and led the country from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. Mao served as the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1943 until his death, and as the party's de facto leader from 1935. His theories, which he advocated as a Chinese adaptation of Marxism–Leninism, are known as Mao Zedong Thought (or Maoism).

Mifsud Bonnici, Ugo, 1932 -

Ugo Mifsud Bonnici was born in Bormla (Cospicua) on November 8, 1932. He was the youngest of Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici and Maria Ross’s three children. His siblings were Josette, who died at 11 months, and the late and lamented Professor Giuseppe Mifsud Bonnici.

Ugo studied at St Edwards College, the Lyceum of Gozo and the University of Malta. He graduated B.A. and L.P. in 1952, and LL.D. in 1955.

As a lawyer, he has practised in all the Law Courts of Malta. On 3 May 1959, he married Gemma (née Bianco); the couple has three childrenː Carmelo, Anton and Jeanne-Pia.

In 1996, he contested the General Elections in the interests of the Nationalist Party. He was re-elected in all subsequent General Elections that he contested. For fifteen years (1972–1987) he was the Nationalist Party's spokesman for Education. In 1977 he was also elected President of the Party's General and Administrative Councils.

As a Member of Parliament, he took an active interest in the updating of Malta's legislation. He was a member of numerous Select Committees including the Committee set up to draft the Constitutional changes that declared Malta a Republic. As a Minister, he worked on the drafting of important legislation such as the Education Act, the Environment Act, the National Archives Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Promotion Act. He made a strong effort to improve the standards at public schools.

He was inaugurated as President of Malta on 4 April 1994 and served his term in full (till 1990), ending five years later to the day.
Dr. Mifsud Bonnici is also a prolific writer. His articles have appeared in various newspapers; some were published in two books: Il-Linja t-Tajba - L-Aħjar Artikli ta' Dottor Ugo Mifsud Bonnici and Biex il-Futur Reġa' Beda. He also spent some years as editor of a literary magazine Malta Letterarja.

Fl-1963 ingħaqad fis-sagrament taż-żwieġ flimkien ma’ Margret Debono, magħrufa bħala Maggie Moran, li mietet fl-10 ta’ April 1993, u li kienet Presidenta tal-Għaqda Nisa Laburisti u Direttriċi ta’ diversi kumpaniji.

Sadat, Anwar, 1918-1981

Muhammad Anwar es-Sadat (1918 - 1981) was an Egyptian politician and military officer who served as the third president of Egypt, from 15 October 1970 until his assassination by fundamentalist army officers on 6 October 1981. Sadat was a senior member of the Free Officers who overthrew King Farouk I in the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, and a close confidant of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, under whom he served as vice president twice and whom he succeeded as president in 1970. In 1978, Sadat and Menachem Begin, Prime Minister of Israel, signed a peace treaty in cooperation with United States President Jimmy Carter, for which they were recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize.

Balthazar Johannes "B. J." Vorster (1915 - 1983), better known as John Vorster, was a South African politician who served as the prime minister of South Africa from 1966 to 1978 and the fourth state president of South Africa from 1978 to 1979. Known as B. J. Vorster during much of his career, he came to prefer the anglicized name John in the 1970s.
